Approved subjects are in bold.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have prior experience as an independent public accountant, and former accounting and taxation instructor for a local junior college. I first became a student of bookkeeping and accounting in high school (Cass Tech) in the late 1960s, and also completed several finance and accounting courses in college (Wayne State U) as I earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in finance, and my Master of Business Administration degree in taxation/accounting.
Understanding accounting is much easier when studied from a logical approach to accounting for acquiring and disposing of cash and other property (assets), and obtaining and repaying debts (liabilities.) When the former exceeds the latter, you have value (positive net worth}. On a personal level, this is when your take-home pay exceeds your bills, and you can maintain some savings.
On the other hand, when your liabilities exceed your assets, you are possibly in financial trouble (negative net worth.) Again, on a personal level, this is when your bills exceed your take-home pay.
I can help you establish a foundation for understanding all that involves accounting and finance in a way that will be useful beyond your course studies, and throughout the rest of your life.
My major in high school was business administration, I hold a bachelor's of science degree in business administration with a major in finance, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a major in taxation/accounting. I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Economic Development, which required me to learn how to plan and develop large scale economic activities that result in increased jobs, commerce, real estate development, and tax revenues for government.
I have also been a full time entrepreneur for over 25 years; and have owned and operated retail and service sector businesses during those years. Occasionally, I teach real estate pre-licensing courses, business and real estate investing courses, and organizational development and management courses. In the past, I have worked as an adjunct accounting and taxation professor for a local junior college.
At the peek of my career, I have managed business ventures with annual gross revenues of over $5 million; and have also created and developed several small entrepreneurial ventures where I was responsible for all phases of business development, management, and growth. This included being responsible for marketing and advertising for business development.
I guess you might say "I know business."
When asked to make a speech or presentation, like many people, you may suffer from pre-presentation butterflies … have trouble organizing your thoughts … get a total mental block… or get so tongue-tied the words just won’t come. If you are the type of speaker who occasionally “ums”, “ahs”, or “know-what-I-means” your way through a presentation, my services are just what you need to boost your confidence and credibility.
If you have a short period of time to develop or gain critical public speaking skills without standing in front of an audience, my services will get you there quickly. My public speaking coaching is chock-full of techniques that will make any presentation a whole lot easier on your nerves. You’ll learn powerful skills and solid strategies to survive presentations without much preparation time … respond smoothly when asked to make a few impromptu remarks … and never skip a beat when your audience starts drilling you with tough questions.
If you’ve struggled with public speaking in the past, this hard-hitting training is exactly what you need! From start to finish, I will walk you through proven strategies and mental formulas that any one — even the most nervous speaker — can use to give off-the-cuff talks like a seasoned pro, grab your audience’s attention, and inspire them to act..
Allow me to show you how to gain powerful presentation skills that guarantee you will …
• Connect with your audience
• Get your point across clearly
• Remain calm, cool, and collected
• Breeze through the toughest question-and-answer periods
For many people, presentations will be a part of your school, work, and/or social routine and you will have many different audiences … your classmates, instructors, potential employers, customers, suppliers, your boss, and the general public. You need to be able to “sell” your thoughts and ideas to make others take action. From an audience of one to an audience of 100 — or more — I can help you gain the vital skills you need to sail right through any presentation.
My public speaking skills have evolved over 33 years since I first addressed my church congregation at the youthful age of 16 years. During those years, I have provided course instruction and workshop/seminar training to thousands. Additionally, I have lobbied government officials to win their unanimous approval of development projects, and spoken publicly before widely diverse audiences as a political candidate for election to public office.
Don’t wait another minute. Make the decision that will improve your skills — and attitudes — about speaking. When the pressure is on… I can help you look and sound good.
I hold an earned Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Taxation from Wayne State University, a major university.
