My experience in tutoring goes back a long way when I attended classes at Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield Michigan. It was there that many students were lost when it came to solving problems in their calculus classes because of their inability in working with basic algebra. I found that it was near impossible to get through any calculus course without a good foundation in algebra, which I had. It wasn't long before I found myself tutoring many students in this area, something that I had never planned on as after a while I had quite a following! However, soon I found that I kind of enjoyed the job of helping students who otherwise might not had gotten through the course they were taking.
I am also a licensed electrician, who served a five year apprenticeship years ago in the building trades. When I attended Lawrence Tech I found that I had a great advantage over the average student when it came to solving basic electrical problems. It was also there that I became a tutor to many students as they found themselves struggling with problems in the electrical area. I truly enjoyed the job of helping others in areas of schooling who otherwise might not had gotten through.
