Hello, I'm Douglas! I've been a teacher of English as a Second Language for 17 years, with a career as architect before that. I look forward to helping you to acheive your best in English in reading, writing, speaking and listening, with an interactive approach that is practical and enjoyable!
I've lived eight years in the Middle East, so I know what it's like to be stuck in a land where you don't know the main language. Yet I learned Arabic to an intermediate level, so I've been giving that extra help to Arab immigrants. I have the CTEFLA certificate for ESL, which gave me a great foundation from which I can serve you better!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I love teaching English as a Second Language! In 1994, I obtained the C/TEFLA: Certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults. Since then, I've had 17 years of experience, both overseas and in the Detroit area. I hope to help you to improve in English and other subjects!
