I was a first grade child having difficulties reading in school. My parents transferred me to a Christian school for the second semester. The one on one attention I received made all the difference in the world. I only needed one semester to, "catch up." From elementary, high school, and college I have always been a honor roll student.
Since then I have always been thrilled to help the struggling student because I am a living example how much that can help you succeed in life. I have seen this time and time again and I believe if you can read well and understand math the rest of your classes will just fall into place.
In college I earned my room and board by tutoring the homeowner's 5th grade student. I also have taught all 3 of my children to read. My middle daughter was dyslexic and after much practice can read very well. My children are now 13, 15 and almost 18. This fall I taught preschool for 4 weeks because the teacher has cancer. That 4 weeks really put the drive back in me of how much I love working with children.
Since then I have been tutoring students at our local public school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. I am looking for a paying tutoring position after school and on Saturdays if needed, but would still volunteer at the public school during the day.
