A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, it is a period of educational unrest. Students face more testing and increasingly difficult college acceptance requirements. In this difficult time, a lone tutor stands up to bring peace of mind to the galaxy . . .

I hold a BA in Psychology from the University of California Davis. I hold a California Credential in Exceptional Student Education from California State University Sacramento.I hold a California Credential in K-6 general education. I have experience in working with students in the 1st through 6th grades in math, reading and English.

After 10 years of experience teaching in classrooms, and tutoring small groups and individuals, I have learned that the best thing to teach a student is how to teach themselves. I have worked with college students for the past three years at one of the leading college support programs in the country, and saw that the best indicator of success was an intimate knowledge of strengths and weaknesses and how to apply this knowledge toward effective strategies.

My areas of expertise are in reading, English, social sciences and algebra. I have worked with students of all abilities, but specialize in students with different learning needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and Learning Disabilities. I also have experience with English Language Learners. With every student, I take the time to learn all about them, from their learning styles to what they like to do in their free time. Together, the student and I develop strategies that utilize this information and apply it to their specific goals. My greatest joy is to work myself out of a job and see a student with the confidence to employ these strategies on their own.

I am willing to work in whatever environment is most comfortable for the student, whether that's in the home, in libraries or other community settings.

Get ready to take your first step into a larger world.
