I have always enjoyed work in a teaching position, primarily in U.S. History. I am very well read, a college graduate, well versed in leadership, communications, light industry, and continuous improvement. I am also well versed in a great number of general education subjects such as English, spelling, computers, and science. My teaching/tutoring experience to this point is somewhat limited. I spent a great deal of time tutoring my young sister in law through her geometry class, I was a Basic Life Support and CPR Instructor for 15 years, and I was asked to spend an hour with some high school seniors discussing how to pick a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections. In that last example, my use of facilitation skills and direct engagement with the students resulted in a lively discussion that lasted just under four hours.
I spent 26 years in the United States Navy, traveling the world and learning different peoples and cultures firsthand. At one time or another, I have visited every continent except for South America, and Antarctica, and was privileged to serve my country during some of the more important events of the last 30 years. I have worked with and enjoyed the professional company of people of every race, creed and origin. As a tutor, I will bring to your child a well rounded world view, and a real world perspective of the material they study. I look forward to working with you and your student to gain them a better understanding of the material they are trying to learn.
