Hi Folks...My name is Mark.
I really enjoy helping people to learn and understand things that I am interested in. I have college degrees in Mathematics and Nursing and post graduate course work in classical and modern physics, astrophysics and astronomy.
I have been an enthusiastic amateur astronomer for some 40 plus years now with my own private observatory here at my home in Midcoast Maine.
In addition to extensive physics, astronomy and mathematics course work, I have held positions as assistant observatory director, Navy Nurse Corps Officer and tutored math, physics and astronomy while in college at the University of Southern Maine in Portland Maine.
I like to use an active, creative and engaging teaching style aiming for understanding of the subject area material being taught. Memorization has its place in learning but things memorized are all too quickly forgotten were as concepts and skills that are understood by the student are much more permanently retained and allow for true mastery of subject material and techniques.
With over 18 years of professional Psychiatric Nursing care work experience, I have developed an excellent skill set in effective listening and creative communication of ideas and skills and this experience serves me very well in helping people learn whatever it is they are interested in studying, understanding and ultimately mastering.
I look forward to working with you to learn and understand algebra, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, vectors, physics and astronomy and helping you succeed in reaching your educational and future career goals.
