Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

General Computer

I have a vast amount of knowledge of computers including hardware, software, configuration, repair and programming. I also have a degree in Computer Science.

HTML

I have been designing web pages for over 15 years and can code by hand in HTML and also can recommend the best WYSIWYG tools to help the beginning web designer.

Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access tutoring sessions are designed for students new to databases.

In each session will learn:

*How to identify the components of a database *How to organize data in tables
*How to view data in tables
*How to create a query, design forms and generate reports.

I am an expert in all versions of MS Access and have been employed as a database developer/analyst for over 10 years.

Microsoft Excel

I offer Excel training from first time to advanced users looking to get the most out of this powerful program. With me you will learn how to:

*create and modify charts
*sort and filter data
*format a worksheet
*customize layouts
*import and export data
*calculate with advanced formulas
*forecast using Excel for trend analysis
*create PivotTables to summarize performance

Microsoft Outlook

MS Outlook tutoring sessions are designed for students new to e-mail client software.

A typical lesson will teach a student:

*How to compose and send e-mails
*How to create contacts
*How to create e-mail templates.
*How to manage a calendar and schedule meetings.

I have been using Outlook since 1997 and am up to speed with the current version.

Microsoft PowerPoint

After completing one lesson you will be able to create your own
presentation by putting text and pictures on slides and how to easily navigate in the PowerPoint window.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is not a word processing program that allows users to create documents, it is an efficient tool for students, business owners and even working individuals to have on their computers and can be automated and even used as a WYSIWYG tool for webpage creation.

If you need to learn how to get the most of Word, I can definitely show you how.

SQL

My SQL tutoring sessions are designed for students new to writing SQL queries. A typical student will need to learn SQL to build applications or to generate business reports. For the most part, the SQL learned in the course is applicable to all major databases. In the few cases in which there are differences between the databases (Oracle vs SQL Server), these differences will be pointed out.

Writing

Students need to understand that there are purposes for writing other than for the teacher to read and grade it. Writing should express how you think, who you are, and what you hope to become.
