Prior to retiring, I worked as a teacher and school administrator and post retirement in a variety of office positions both in the legal and medical field. As a teacher I have taught reading (basic learning of the alphabet and phonics up through reading development and trained in the Wilson Reading Program; English including grammar, literature, writing, business writing, business English; social studies (general, U.S. History, American Government/Civics, geography; science (general elementary level); math (basic learning of addition up through algebra II); business subjects including business English, business Math, consumer math, typing/keyboarding I & II, office procedures, shorthand I & II, medical transcription I & II.
I believe in integrating all subject areas and using any opportunity or materials to teach. My passion is discovering how that person learns and then designing a program that will meet that person's learning style(s)/needs, helping them in learning how to learn not just teaching subject matter. Education should be a life-long learning experience.
Teachers are born, not just educated. Teachers should be able to use various methods and explanations and do whatever is needed to help the student learn. My life has been devoted to helping students (young and old) to learn not just by teaching but by experiencing what they are learning. I was born to teach!
