Hello!
My name is Stacy and I would like to offer my tutoring services.
I hold my BA in English from the University of Maine at Augusta. I graduated in 2010, magna cum laude. During my undergraduate degree, I focused extensively on the English language, Literature, Creative Writing, and Anthropology. I have also just completed my MA in Professional Writing. My thesis was a Creative Non-Fiction novel that took me two years to complete.
My areas of specialty, are English (all facets of), and Social Sciences. I am Ed Tech III certified, with a current criminal records check and fingerprinting on file with the State of Maine, exp. 2015.
I work for two local school systems as an Adult Education Instructor, and one school system as a Substitute teacher. I am comfortable working with ages 9-Adult.
My tutoring methods involve getting to know the student's needs. Devising a plan to meet those needs, and then working either directly from the plan on or on individual assignments the student is having trouble with. If this were an SAT tutoring assignment, I would obtain SAT requirements, perform a pre-evaluation of student's level of expertise, then focus on areas that need improvement. If this were a homeschooling student, I would determine what areas needed the most work and start there. I like to work closely with my clients to ensure that their needs are being met; their opinion matters to me.
I am flexible and enthusiastic. I am local and willing to travel around twenty miles to meet with a client.
