My Teaching Philosophy:
As an educator, I want to ensure high-level learning. Since students learn at various rates and with different learning styles, their acquisition and application of knowledge is best supported by utilizing their learning styles, interests and abilities. An ideal environment encourages proactive student involvement, supported by the teacher's enthusiastic role as coach and facilitator.
My approach is simple: find out what the child needs to know, explore the child's learning style, find out what the child does know about the topic, and then use a teaching approach that would be uniquely applicable to that child.
My background and training has been primarily in the sciences and math preparation. I've spent the last five years working with children with disabilities as well as being a certified teacher in gifted education. My passion is teaching children "how to learn" as well as "what to learn."
