Hi, I am Fred B. and am someone who loves to learn and teach. I am only 3 classes away from earning my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I enjoy the challenge of learning new concepts and ideas, which I pass on and teach students how learning can be fun. I have a clear understanding of concepts, but choose to work with kids in the K-8 range. Working with young kids is my passion. I was always an above average reader. I started reading by 3 years of age and learning the basic phonetic skills has helped me tremendously. I am currently teaching an after school program for children in Pre-K thru the 8th grade. This position requires me to assist with homework, teach a standard curriculum and mentor when needed as well.

Allow me to work with you, your son or daughter and I promise I will teach them skills, ideas and concepts in a way that they will be able to understand and utilize immediately.

Thanks for the opportunity,

Fred

Reading

Helping people to read is something that comes easy for me. I was a early reader so reading has always come naturally. Because it has been easy for me, I want to help others understand that reading can be fun and exciting and does not have to be boring. Picking the right types of books is a big key to getting your child interested in reading. I engage the child on their level. I assess what level they are at and then we start to build on what they know. I work with students on a phonic level so we can break the words up so it is easier to sound the words out. I have found that this simple trick helps so many students and builds confidence as well. When you read something you need to be able to comprehend what you have read and I can help with that as well. I am more than happy to help you or your child with improve at reading.

Awesome — Fred has been working with our son since first quarter of school. At that time our son had a D in reading and really didn't seem to like doing his homework. It would normally take him all night to finish. We had to be hands on until he finished and a lot of it was trying to get him to comprehend what he was reading. At times it would be very frustrating as parents to see your child not understandi ...
