My name is Kolin. I grew up in Rochester, NY (upstate NY not the city). My passion for sign language started when I took ASL as an elective course at Finger Lakes Community College. After my time at FLCC, I transferred to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) located on the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) campus where I graduated with a Bachelors in American Sign Language Interpreting Education. A few months ago I moved down to MD with my partner to pursue new adventures.
I have tutored friends and new users of sign language back in NY. I like to make learning as much fun as possible. Learning a new language can be difficult and frustrating, I will be extremely patient with my students but push them to be their best. One of my goals is to keep the student challenged but not overwhelmed.
I encourage students and/or parents to provide feedback so I can continue to grow as well. I am typically flexible with my time and schedule. I do have a 24-hr cancellation policy.
I am willing to travel up to 30 miles, preferably by Metro but I can drive if needed. I can meet anywhere, I typically like a quiet coffee shop but I can meet anywhere.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success!
