PLEASE NOTE: I have a full time job in the training department of an NGO, so my time is more limited than when I first created this profile; this being the case, I can only take on short-term or task-specific tutoring jobs (such as brush ups for a test, application essay
I first began tutoring Bar and Bat Mitzvah
students (ages 10-13) to prepare for their torah/haftarah portions, blessings, and services (Friday night, Saturday morning and havdalah). I worked with students of all experience levels in the Hebrew reading
and trope, and can easily adjust my teaching style for quicker and slower learners.
Since then, I started working intermittently with elementary and middle school students. Notably, I was able to help a 9th grade student with special needs
go from Cs and Ds to As and Bs by helping her practice effective study habits and reading comprehension in all of her core subjects. I earned my degree in writing
from Johns Hopkins University, and graduated with honors in May 2012. During my last semester, I served as the Teaching Assistant for two subjects in the Theatre
Arts & Studies Department: Contemporary Theatre & Film
, and Acting and Directing Level II. I continue to assist people of all ages drafting and editing
admissions essays for college and law
school, as well as articles, press releases, and fiction writing.
I am a very good listener and believe in individualizing my methods for optimum results. What resonates with one student may not with another, and I am patient and determined in helping a person find what works for them. I assisted several students between ages 8 and 19 during the 2013-14 school year - some for test preparation
or occasional help, and one student for regular, twice-a-week, tutoring.
I look forward to hearing from you, and encourage you to ask me questions!
