I am passionate about the brain and human psychology. As an undergraduate I graduated with a 3.8 GPA with a degree in neuroscience and philosophy. Recently, I completed a masters degree in cognitive neuroscience from University College London with a distinction (top mark). I am currently a full-time researcher at Johns Hopkins in the division of cognitive neuroscience. I have several publications in psychology/neuroscience and philosophy journals.
I have several years of experience with teaching high school and undergraduate students. As an undergraduate, I developed a full semester course on consciousness and mind, which I instructed to undergraduate juniors and seniors. I published the content of this course into the Journal of Undergraduate Neuroscience Education. As a master's student in London, I received a part-time teaching job instructing high school students in psychology, philosophy, and neuroscience. In an anonymous feedback form, the students commented:
"The tutor was very good. He made people understand confusing things easily."
"The tutor was great. He structured the session in a way that will help everyone to understand and to wrap their head around the different ideas/theories."
I also have experience with public speaking: I was the student body president at my university were public speaking was a daily occurrence. Likewise, I completed a semester course in public speaking.
I minored in philosophy as an undergraduate and collaborated with the chair of the philosophy department in my master's thesis. I have published several philosophy papers discussing multiple topics, including the philosophy of mind, ethics/neuroethics/bioethics, free will, intuitions, and referencing Kant, Descartes, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Chalmers, Dennett, and others! I can help you through difficult philosophic concepts and writing philosophy papers.
I developed and instructed a full-semester undergraduate course in psychology. The content of this course has been published in the Journal of Undergraduate Neuroscience Education. In addition, I instructed dozens of high school students in the UK and US on psychology related topics, including consciousness/mind, animal behavior, cognition, and the brain.
I was a competitive track & field/ cross country runner for 8 years (2004-2012). I ran for my undergraduate varsity teams where I received multiple awards, including two school records (800m and Distance Relay). I am well aware of training needs for most track and field events. I am passionate about running!
Writing is a passion of mine! I am published in several philosophy, neuroscience, and psychology journals, and have won awards for my writing. I will work one-on-one with you to help you achieve similar quality. I can help with writing style, organization, grammar, and referencing (e.g. MAL, APA, Chicago, etc.).
