I'm Isabel, I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in history and dramaturgy. If you're not sure what dramaturgy is—don't worry! most people don't! Dramaturgs are part of the artistic team on a production, and serve as the literary and historical brains in the rehearsal room. Essentially dramaturgs study English with an emphasis on theory and writing, history, theater and art history. As a dramaturg I have learned communication and clear, concise writing. A big part of what I've done with dramaturgy is education, so I have experience with young people, especially in having dialogues about issues and criticism as well as teaching about literature. My dramaturgical focus has been classical text and Shakespeare, so if you or someone you know is struggling with the Bard I can make it fun, easy and understandable. The other part of my major was history, so I am in a good position to give advice on researching, memorizing facts, writing essays and bibliography formats.
I went through the MCPS public school system with a little bit of Waldorf and homeschooling mixed in. I took a wide variety of APs and received 4s or 5s in most of them. I graduated from high school with a 4.0 in the top ten percent. At Carnegie Mellon I had a 3.8 (which was only brought down by B's in my math and science requirements), was on the Dean's List with high honors, and graduated with four different types of honors as well as Phi Epsilon Theta (the history honors society) and Phi Beta Kappa (a national honors society).
