Looking for a tutor in the Washington, DC area? I'm a student of politics and philosophy at Hampshire College, and I'd love to help you improve your reading, writing, or speaking skills. I've had experience with students of various ages - children, teenagers, and adults - in English and ESOL. If you need help, or you know someone who does, I'd be more than happy to help improve your skills!
At fifteen, I moved to Germany for an exchange year. I had no knowledge of the language whatsoever, and had to quickly pick it up, as German was spoken both in the home and in my high school. I understand how hard it can be to learn a new language, and to acclimate yourself to a new culture. For this reason, I've been on both sides of the fence - learning German and having a German tutor, and teaching English as a tutor. Because of this experience, and because I'm bilingual, I'm able to better understand how to help ESL students.
I keep my prices relatively low because I understand how difficult it can be to pay for a tutor. Those families and persons who cannot afford to pay $60/hour still deserve quality tutoring - especially if they are looking to improve English for a job or for school. I've worked with college students and low-income families who need a tutor at an affordable price. That's why I'm happy to provide my services for $20/hour.
