I have many years of experience with editing college-level writing assignments, college application essays, personal statements, resumes, cover letters, high school essays, law school writing assignment, master's theses and doctoral dissertations. I have also coached undergraduate student writers at a college campus writing center. I have worked with native English speakers as well as ESL writers.
My day job is with a law firm, which entails a lot of reading, writing and editing legal materials. But I have continued to help people outside of the office to perfect their writing assignments -- something I began doing in college! I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from University of Maryland in College Park, with a minor in Astronomy.
I enjoy working with student or professional writers in all stages of writing, from brainstorming to proofreading and editing. As a student of philosophy, I value critical thinking in the writing process (see my essay "Toward a Holistic Tutoring Practice" in my blog). Accordingly, I often invite student writers to critically evaluate the argument in their own writing in order to tighten the writing.
It's my passion to see great ideas crystallized into succinct and accessible written words! I look forward to working with you on your writing assignments. Happy writing!
