ESOL trained & Worked in ESOL as Sub in Montgomery Co for 2 yrs

My husband and I volunteered in 2008-2009 for a special science course for second graders. In the fall of 2009, I signed up to be a substitute teacher in Montgomery County. I have taught special needs reading, math and music, as well as pre-kindergarten through high school in math, science, American history, music, and English. I enjoy working with children and adults particularly, one-on-one and with groups no larger than 25. I will be taking the Literacy Council Course for ESOL teachers a second time in the August-September time frame. The first time was in 1987-88. At that time, I will re-take the test to certify me.

A little bit more about me:
A former Federal worker with 30 years of experience, including Contracting & Procurement (Contracting Officer with unlimited warrant), I also worked as a Senior Program Analyst, an Environmental Protection Specialist, an Equal Employment (EEO) Opportunity Specialist, and a Diversity Team Leader.

As an Assistant Investigator for a feasibility study, our team worked to establish a sheltered workshop in Howard County. I also donated over 2000 hours when the Rouse Company funding ran out. I worked as a Social Planner for New Towns, an editor for proposals and reports, and as Technical Specifications Coordinator for the Naval Sea Systems Command. I was also a Procurement Analyst at the Naval Sea Systems Command and wrote the first Advance Procurement Plan for Electrical Subsystems, signed off by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, without change.

I worked with Salvadorean immigrants in 1988-89, teaching them English as a second language. I was working with the Literacy Council here in Montgomery County. Literature

I have, with one exception, received A's on all my papers in undergraduate and graduate school. I am published in the Journal of American Psychology and am excellent at writing scientific research papers. I enjoy literature and am fascinated by the symbolism used. I studied piano for 8 years when I was growing up. I studied composition and theory as well. I have taught elementary music at least 11 times during the last two years -- in Montgomery County Public Schools.

Phonics

I studied phonics at the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, Maryland, twice. Once in 1988 and I am completing (a refresher)the English-as-a-Second language training on September 24th this year. Also, I have taught ESOL in Montgomery County Public Schools over the last 2 and 1/2 years.

Special Needs
