I am a 60 year-old Mechanical Engineering Professor at the U.S. Naval Academy. I have a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland. I have 8 years of teaching experience at the University of Maryland and 31 years at the U.S. Naval Academy. As a Professor, I have hundreds of hours of experience working with students one on one as well as countless hours of tutoring my own very successful children when they were young.

Recently, I have had great success helping students significantly improve their Math SAT scores. I am willing to tutor any math class, K-12, any calculus class, math SAT prep, math ACT prep and some college classes such as Statics, Dynamics, and Thermodynamics.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

All 3 of my children took Algebra I when they were in middle school. I was very successful as their tutor. I enjoy math and I am very patient.

All 3 of my children took Algebra 2 when they were in high school. I was very successful as their tutor. I enjoy math and I am very patient.

ASVAB

As an engineering professor, I have a wide background well suited for the subjects on the ASVAB test. As a professor at the U. S. Naval Academy, I am well suited as a mentor for anyone considering a military future.

Calculus

As an engineering professor, I use calculus often and provide one to one tutoring to my engineering students.

Chemistry

All 3 of my children took Chemistry when they were in high school. I was very successful as their tutor. I enjoy science and I am very patient.

Elementary Math

I always enjoyed helping my three children with their math homework as they grew up. I was always very patient with them and I am proud to say that all three are now very successful adults.

Geometry

All 3 of my children took Geometry when they were in middle school. I was very successful as their tutor. I enjoy math and I am very patient.

Mechanical Engineering

I have been teaching Mechanical Engineering at the college level for 36 years. The subjects that I have taught most often are Thermodynamics, Statics and Dynamics. My students always praise me for showing them the easiest way to solve difficult problems.

Physics

Physics was always one of my favorite subjects. I enjoyed tutoring my children in physics when they were in high school.

Poker

I am an engineering professor with a very strong math background. I have read and studied several poker books and play professionally at low limits. I completely understand how to calculate pot odds when determining whether or not it is proper to make a bet when you are still waiting for a card on the turn or river to complete a flush or straight.

Precalculus

As an engineering professor, I use calculus often and provide one-to-one tutoring to my engineering students.

SAT Math

I earned a perfect score on the Math SAT. I can show you the easiest way to solve difficult problems regardless of your current ability.

Trigonometry

All 3 of my children took Trigonometry when they were in high school. I was very successful as their tutor. I enjoy math and I am very patient. As an engineer, I use trigonometry every day.
