I've loved math ever since I was a kid and I'd love to pass that passion along. I scored a 5 on the AP Calculus test my junior year of high school and completed 2 full courses in mutlivariable calculus in college before my high school graduation. I know that competition for advanced placement is higher than ever today so I believe that my first-hand experience with that process, in addition to my expertise, will make me an invaluable asset in your child's education.
Having been born in Europe, I've have a natural affinity for European History my entire life. In addition to taking AP European History in high school (and scoring a 5 on the exam), I also majored in Historical Sociology in college and wrote my thesis on Poland's martial law era.
Whether you're a high school student looking for help with AP Euro, a middle school student needing some guidance in social studies, or a college student looking for someone to help you synthesize concepts or organize term papers, look no further; give me a call and let's talk about how I can help.
Geometry is probably my favorite area of mathematics. The logical thinking processes that you learn in geometry carry over to every aspect of one's education, not just in the hard sciences, but also into English and writing as well.
So when teaching theorems, logic, and proofs, I go through great pains to make sure that my students don't just understand how to go about getting the correct answer, but also that they understand each one of the building blocks needed to get there and why and how they fit so perfectly together that only that one answer is logically possible.
I was a management consultant in New York before I moved down to DC with my wife, so I literally used to spend upwards of 10 hours a day in Excel creating, tweaking, and updating financial models/forecasts. In that time I've learned two simple facts:
1) The world runs on Excel! And if you don't develop proficiency in it, you're at a severe disadvantage in any work environment.
2) It's a lot easier than it looks!
Over the years, I've learned many nifty tricks, skills, and shortcuts, and created hundreds of different models, ranging from simple business scenario comparisons to very complex financial models. If you're interested in learning Excel, or just looking for a refresher course, contact me and I can send a sample of some of my work.
I have a BA in Sociology from Harvard University and wrote a magna cum laude thesis in Historical Sociology while there.
If you're a college student majoring in Sociology, (or even taking it as an elective), and need help reviewing theory, studying for an exam, or organizing your term paper or thesis, feel free to contact me to see how I can help.
