Hello! My name is Jaison and I’m a Ph.D. physicist offering tutoring in mathematics and physics. My 10 years of professional experience span both research and education. As a research scientist, I am a published author and have conducted research in nonlinear dynamics and ocean acoustics. As an educator, I have been a tutor, grader, laboratory assistant, and laboratory instructor. As a private tutor operating in the Washington, DC region, I have accumulated over 450 hours assisting high school, undergraduate, and returning adult students.
My primary goal is to build competency in problem solving and my approach is fluid. While one student may need assistance with their homework, another may need a plan to backtrack and review algebra. One student may learn through questioning, another needs to have each step explained in full. Some lack motivation, some lack confidence, and others need to have the material related to what they know (and actually enjoy doing!). I have learned that every student has their story and thus, I must adapt to each situation.
If you’re interested in working with me, feel free to send me an email and inquire about my availability. I currently service Rockville, Aspen Hill, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Potomac, North Bethesda, and Gaithersburg. I look forward to hearing from you!
