As an avid writer and educator, I have been teaching Chinese for the past two decades to students from all walks of life. In China, I tutored elementary school students, secondary school students, and adults across subjects that include Mandarin, math, basic science, and music. An internal medicine physician by training, I regularly worked with patients with chronic and terminal illnesses in China. My professional medical training and experience have brought my patience and resilience to boost my students’ confidence when I teach. Recently, two of my prose pieces in Chinese have been published as winners of a local writing competition. My approach to teaching Chinese is customized based on your learning objectives. I provide lessons in conversational Chinese, business Chinese, everyday Chinese, pin-yin, character writing, and calligraphy. I will help you pass the Chinese language exams and boost your studying skills with each session. During our session, you will learn to see the language, as the native speaker would learn it. We will approach characters intuitively, so that you will be able to expand your vocabulary and understanding systematically.
