Hello Parents and Potential Students,
I thoroughly enjoy working with elementary, junior high and high school students and adults, to support their studies. In addition to tutoring in the Washington, D.C. area, I worked as a tutor in Silicon Valley, CA for Kaplan, and as a private tutor for many years. Two years ago, I returned to Maryland, my home, to be closer to my family. Here I have enjoyed working with WyzAnt students of all ages!
My tutoring expertise is augmented by my career as a staff member at The Wall Street Journal,Forbes magazine, and Bloomberg Business News. I was a reporter, editor and manager. I wrote about business, medicine, biology, the environment, legal issues, Wall Street, and other topics that are related to subjects taught in grammar school, junior high and high school.
Not surprisingly, as I mentioned above, my tutoring has focused on reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, test preparation, biology, geography, government, public speaking,and other hurdles young people face. On the whole, I've found that learning is largely a matter of communication. It's not that a student cannot understand and master the material, they just haven't "heard" the information in a way that they can digest.
Also, I have worked as a public speaking mentor for everyone from Fortune 500 chief executives to university professors. I enjoy this work very much as well.
