Are you a high school, college, or graduate student who wants to go beyond a basic level of knowledge in US History, World History, European History, Government and Politics, English, or Geography? Are you motivated to excel in one of these fields? I can help!
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom. International Studies/Relations is a multidisciplinary subject area that encompasses history, political science, and economics.
My graduate and professional research has given me a deep knowledge of national and international politics and the history of the United States, Western Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and World Geography. I have lectured to academic audiences. I have taught undergraduates as a Teaching Assistant for first and second-year International Relations courses. I have designed and taught undergraduate and graduate seminars, primarily focusing on political violence and terrorism.
I have professional and academic experience writing everything from press releases, term papers, and intelligence briefs, to book chapters, and a book-length thesis. My preferred style of teaching is to engage the student in a conversation that enables the student to articulate what he or she has learned from study, and to use that as a means to suggest additional pathways to acquiring and deepening their knowledge of the subject.
I can help you develop a deeper understanding of the subjects listed above. I can also help you prepare a research plan for a term paper, a proposal for a thesis, or a manuscript for publication. I can provide editorial and critical input during the writing process, and help you master academic and professional writing styles and citation standards. If you are prepping for AP exams, I can assist you in teasing out and framing concepts, facts, connections, personalities, and dates that you will need to do well.
My schedule is flexible. I will work with you to set goals, and provide input to assist you in meeting them. I look forward to working with you.
