Being a lifelong learner is one of the best things life has to offer. As a lover of learning, I strive to instill this passion in my students while offering top quality tutoring and teaching methodology. Throughout over 10 years of teaching, I have been consistently ranked as a top teacher based on feedback provided by my students through school surveys.
My tutoring expertise is technical subject matter including math, physics, and mechanical drafting & design. As a tutor of these subjects, I strive to first get to know my students' interests. By doing so, I can relate the abstract technical concepts to something real in their life such as a sport or hobby. I also draw on engineering experience to explain how math and science is used to solve real world problems.
During my time with the student, it is important that we have a quiet area to work. The student must be focused and ready to learn. Learning is an active process that does not happen by accident. It is important to me personally that my students are learning. I offer a guarantee of complete satisfaction to my clients and will not bill otherwise. I also welcome and encourage feedback.
I am a parent of two and thus I understand that unscheduled events regularly occur in life. I ask only a 1 hour notice of cancellation so that I can avoid traveling expenses. Makeup classes can be scheduled at your convenience.
I enjoy the excitement of meeting new people and developing new relationships. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
I have used AutoCAD throughout my entire 25+ year career. To begin with, having learned and used AutoCAD (as a new product) in college, my first career role was as a mechanical engineer. Throughout 12+ years and 3 companies, I used AutoCAD to create, modify and approve engineering components, assemblies and products. During the next phase (approx 6 years) of my career, I was a salesperson who sold AutoCAD and 3D CAD products based on AutoCAD. Next, I was employed as an Instructor at a post-secondary school at which I taught students how to use AutoCAD (and 3D CAD systems) among other things.
I have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering for Polytechnic University (now part of New York University). After graduating, I was asked to become part of the Adjunct Faculty and teach engineering classes. I worked for over 12 years as a mechanical engineer in industry. I have also worked as a full time instructor of engineering design and drafting classes at the college level.
I was a long time user of MS Project in an industrial environment. At Becton Dickinson (1992-1999) as a senior engineer I was responsible for planning all of our projects in Project. As a senior engineer, I was responsible for scheduling and tracking my own piece of the project as well as integrating the timelines of my subordinates to create a full schedule for the mechanical team. Scheduling in this environment requires constant tracking and updating as, with so much information, changes occurred continually. We utilized a lot of Gantt chart to visualize the timeline and identify critical path as well as long lead items. We used Pert charts mostly in the beginning of the Project, to help define the critical path.
My other experience my MS Project was as an instructor. The final class for our students, prior to qualifying for a degree, was to pass a Capstone project class. As part of this class, our students had to build a 3D software model (of their own choosing) and manage the development of the model with MS Project. They were required to report their status and adjust their plan every 2 weeks (12 week class) so their plan accurately reflected the reality of the situation. I was required to teach the students how to use MS Project and as an effective tool in a development environment.
