I have been a teacher for 14 years, teaching both Science and Math. I have been a school leader at various schools. I work with struggling students on a daily basis. My favorite subjects are Pre-Algebra and Chemistry. I work best with middle and high school students, but have worked with elementary school students and adults. I plan each session to cater to the needs of my client. I call a day in advance to find out what subject(s) the client is working on and I use that information to build a supportive lesson. I can also offer homework support. I specialize in getting students organized to study and take tests. I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have a BS in Biology (Chemistry minor). I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Biology). I have training in teaching students in the mainstream classroom. I have had training in becoming a skillful teacher, and observing and analyzing teaching. I have taught inclusion classes my entire 13 year career. I have Co-Taught classes and taught classes with paraeducators.

Currently, I teach in an alternative setting with many students that require special skills. They are academically and behaviorally challenged. I have ADHD myself and know my needs as a learner.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored elementary school students. I have a son who is in elementary school, and I help him with his homework on a daily basis. I also have been a camp counselor and campcraft specialist for children in grades 3-8. I have taught elementary-age students for 13 years, with one year at the sixth grade level.

Study Skills

I have been a teacher for 13 years. I have tutored for about 5 of those years. I have done extensive research, and have put together my own materials when it comes to test-taking tips and study skills.

Whole student tutor. — Bryan began lessons with a mindful exploration about the characteristics of a successful study and a review of study skills and study packets. I really like the way he engaged my son to take responsibility for his learning and approached tutoring from a broader perspective than just working problems. ...
