I came to the United States to learn English. My experience which I try to pass to my students, is to feel confident, and not be afraid to speak the language. Everyone
if they are really interested can do it. Have continued to communicate with former students and glad to see how well they can express themselves. I encourage my students not to be shy and if they do not understand what is said to them to ask.
This was my own experience and I try to pass this to my students, not to be afraid to speak, we all can do it, no matter how old you are. It takes practice but that's exactly what I try to teach. How to communicate with others and to speak correctly. I have had students up to 75 years of age or older and they have learned.
I am a native Colombian who has lived around the world. Have bee teaching ESOL to grown ups for the last six years. Had success in teaching and most of them have been able to pass proficiency tests. Also have taught Spanish to children and grown ups. Using same methods as I have one teaching English. Prepare them so they can communicate when they have to speak Spanish.
