Hello! My name is Katelyn and I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Throughout my four years at college I became heavily involved with helping my peers. I enjoy learning and sharing my knowledge with others and have a lot of experience in tutoring.
I was a laboratory assistant and course mentor for the General Honors Biology class. In this program, I attended all classes and labs, as well as held group and one-on-one study sessions at least once a week. I also met with the professor before classes to discuss the material. I love learning new things and being able to share these new things with others.
I was also a General Chemistry tutor in the Peer Tutor Program at Washington College. I catered to students questions and held question-answer sessions twice a week.
I was also one of four student leaders selected for our Biology Department Student Steering Committee. Here I helped tour-guide perspective professors, shared ideas on how to better the department, and created a PowerPoint slide show of all of the current Biology majors to display at our open house.
I also brought the national organization Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) to Washington College. This was a pre-medical, dental, nursing, physical therapy, etc., club that helped join students together who were interested in health-related occupations.
Lastly, I was a Peer Mentor for 3 years while at college. This program helped first year and transfer students get acclimated to their new college environment. The third year I was chosen to be a Peer Mentor Leader, to guide my own mentees as well as the other Peer Mentors. I am well versed at conflict-resolution and interpersonal skills.
Through my Biology degree I was enrolled in the following classes: Honors General Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Microbial Ecology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Behavioral Ecology, Genetics and
Biomedical Ethics. I have a love for the sciences and am very excited to help others with these subjects.
As a Biology tutor, I look forward to helping explain the study of living organisms!!!
