I have a BS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering. I am a full-time professional who currently works in the science and engineering field, where I use and am exposed to math, chemistry, and biology on a daily basis. My qualifications include one year of teaching as a graduate student, previous tutoring experience with young children, and frequent training of clients and co-workers in my current job. In teaching students, I give them every tool that I know of to help them succeed, but I also help them to understand that their success is almost entirely dependent on their own effort and drive.
I primarily tutor most math topics, including but not limited to algebra, geometry, calculus, and SAT and ACT-level math. Aside from my job as a scientist, I am also heavily involved with the stock market. This allows me to not only teach the necessary material, but also helps to provide context for the concepts. I have found in my experience that teaching is much more meaningful when the knowledge can be applied to practical situations!
The main thing I would like to get out of this tutoring experience is a chance to teach and mentor students, preferably those at the high school level and above.
