My name is Erik, but my students call me "Abe". I graduated from Moorhead State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition, served 12 years as a Marine Corps officer and helicopter pilot, earned my Master's in Post-secondary Education during my third tour in Iraq, and have worked as an aviation training systems analyst at the Naval Air Systems Command. My leadership experience before musicians, Marines, pilots, and business professionals has taught me that there is nothing more important than one's ability to communicate with clarity, accuracy, and precision.
I can teach you to organize and critically examine your ideas to provide logical order and supporting evidence to your audience. Together we'll shape your language to provide the clarity and precision necessary to render complex ideas transparent to any group or individual. We'll explore the possibilities and pitfalls of visual aids; you’ll learn how to shape their impact and how to keep them from killing your presentation. Perhaps most importantly, I’ll help you critically examine incoming information – through active listening or reading comprehension – to gain the competitive edge that comes from “getting it” quickly and accurately.
If this all sounds like something that belongs in business school, or in a board room at IBM, imagine the impact these skills will make when you use them in your next social studies report.
Or college application.
