Christopher D: Writing/Editing Professional.

Good writing skills remain among the top qualities sought by both colleges and employers. I will help you recognize patterns in your writing and teach you to spot your errors, improve your sentence structure, and sharpen your content. In addition to in-person tutoring, I also offer analysis of your papers and writing samples. I can't write the paper for you, but I will give you quality and concrete suggestions to help you improve. I am a professional writer and editor with more than a decade of experience, and I look forward to helping you get that elusive A.

Your brain is like a muscle: It will go soft if you don't use it. I will challenge you to think as we work through your writing. Over time, you'll establish your own voice and learn to work through the process of taking a writing assignment from idea to a final version. Writing is a life skill that you'll rely on long after you've turned in your latest assignment. And that is what I hope to give you: a skill you can rely on both inside and outside of the classroom.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

I'm an experienced professional speechwriter who has written numerous speeches for the president and executive board members of a national health care association, as well as two candidates for political office. I can guide students through the writing process and provide feedback on their delivery.

Writing

If you're looking for an instructor who will pull out a red pen, correct your mistakes and leave, look elsewhere. I will share what I've learned over more than a decade of professional writing and editing, including how to overcome the mental blocks and stress that often come with writing assignments. Every student is an individual, and each has his or her own learning style. I do my best to remain flexible and work with the student to find methods that best fit his or her learning style. All I require of a student is the drive and willingness to do what's necessary to succeed. We'll work together to achieve that success.

Great tutor! — It has been said, "first impressions are lasting impression." This is true with regard to Christopher. He was on time (A+). He listened and understood what I needed. He was very easy to reach and responded promptly to my every request (via email or phone). I could not have finished this paper without him. I plan to use him again in the very near future. ...
