I graduated from Clemson University with both a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering on May 2003 and a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering on December 2005. While I attended Clemson University, I tutored part time with the Student Athlete Enrichment Program where I enabled the academic eligibility of 5 student athletes by improving their study habits and time management skills, which increased their GPA by 30%. I was recognized for my efforts, and I received the Tutor Recognition Award in April 2004. During my graduate studies, I have assisted with the publication of two journal articles in Environmental Science and Technology. My research studies were trying to develop an understanding of plutonium subsurface transport in order to assess the risk if plutonium were to ever breach its waste container in a radiological repository.
After graduating Clemson University with my Masters of Science, I started working for MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc. (MACTEC) in Kennesaw Georgia on August 2005. At MACTEC I supported senior engineers with Clean Air Act Work. Some of the projects I worked on was the design of a $3.7 billion steel plant, $100 million optimization design for a pulp and paper plant, and a $1 billion coal fired utility plant.
When I got married in March 2008, I moved to Columbia, SC, and I started work with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC). At SC DHEC, I was responsible for determining the compliance status for 43 industrial facilities in South Carolina with federal environmental regulations. The industries I specialized in are chemical facilities, pulp and paper plants, plywood manufacturing plants, and power plants. In December 2009, I received my Professional Engineering License in Environmental Engineering.
In September 2010, I moved to Laurel, MD, and I was hired by the federal government to develop sustainability solutions to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions for nationwide biomedical facilities.
