I am an experienced tutor of writing and English, having worked on the elementary school level, community college level and university level. I am also highly skilled in assisting learning disabled students with their English, writing and study skills. Most recently, I have tutored learning disabled students, on the university level; yet, I know that I can help anyone with any written task, regardless of his or her age.
In order to have the best chance to achieve success at the collegiate level of education, one has, first, to market himself or herself, successfully, to the officers in the schools' admissions offices who make the initial determination whether he or she ought to be granted the chance to prove.
Having worked as a freelance proofreader and editor of admissions essays, on the high school to undergraduate level and the undergraduate to doctoral levels, previously, I am certain I can help and counsel individuals successfully, again.
In 1980, I began private lessons in percussion instruments and drumset; this continued until 1987, when I sustained a nearly-fatal stroke. Following my completion of a year of physical therapy, I resumed playing drums and, eventually, began jamming with associates and eventually playing in bands, at external venues. Please contact me for more information.
I have assisted many, many ESL students in the past on the community college level, and, more recently, on the university and graduate school level, I have provided students whose primary language has not been English with high level writing and research methods assistance.
I have been using Windows Operating Systems since the late 1980s and early 1990s, prior to the advent of Windows 95. Then, I acquired a PC of my own in 1995 and embraced Windows 95, using it extensively, in desktop publishing, word processing and commercial and academic writing capacities, as well.
Now, over 15 years later, having upgraded my Windows Operating System with the advent of each new generation, I have been able to add the additional features that Windows possesses for print, digital transmission and web presentation capacities.
As a graduate student at the University of Maryland, I was a Writing Education major and took all the same classes that Master's Certification and Praxis students took. Therefore, my funds of knowledge as a private practitioner overlap and encompass the Education Block and Praxis programs. I specialize in test preparation of learning disabled students, academic test takers and employment-contingent, and promotion-based study skills.
I have worked, for several years, in Greensboro, NC, New Haven, Ct, the Baltimore/DC/NOVA metro region and Seattle, WA, as a proofreader and digital database producer. Clientele include several private individuals, Prospect Center, et al.
I have spoken publicly for many years, have worked as a tutor of entry-level writing students on the community college and university level whose curriculum is comprised of rhetorical writing that is very closely connected to dialogic speech writing and, finally, as an undergraduate student, I completed speech courses, as well.
The trick to doing well as an SAT Writer is to maintain balance, focus and cohesion, as you are responding to a prompt. I will show you how to use your communication effectively and adorn it with cues that will make your message utterly concise. This will be able to be used, by you, in written and spoken form.
I have been writing poetry for over two decades; many of my poems do not rhyme; some of them do rhyme. Either way, I have written lyrics for bands in which I've played drums and I have produced lyrics for other musicians' bands, as well. Contact me to gain more insight.
I have engaged in several semesters of pedagogical skills and study courses, each of which was geared to learning ulterior methods by which students with learning disabilities can overcome their inabilities to study, learn, communicate and write about what topics they are required to master.
I hold a bachelor's degree in writing, earned in 1996, and have had several years' experience as a writer, editor, proofreader and technical writer, in Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, and Seattle, WA; recently, while earning my Master's, I have been working as a tutor of writing on the University level and have continued these pursuits, following the receipt of my degree.
