I am a graduate from university with Bachelor of Science in math and Master of Art in methods of teaching math.
My 30 years of services in the system of education includes teaching high school and college math, developing elementary and middle school grade texts, and tutoring students of different grades including my own daughter and son.
My philosophy of teaching is that every student can be successful in his or her endeavor provided he or she is properly supported.

Major topics/chapters included but not limited to in algebra I are real numbers and their properties, equations and functions, writing, solving, and graphing linear equations, solving and graphing linear inequalities, system of linear equations and inequalities, exponential functions, polynomials, quadratic equations and functions, radicals, rational equations as well as probability and data analysis. During the study work depending on the topic and the needs of the learner, graphing calculator will be used.
At the tutoring session concepts will be made clear. Examples are worked on with the learner, and the learner will be assisted to do similar exercises until she/he is able to do them independently.

The contents of Algebra II include, solving equations and inequalities involving absolute values, solving system of linear equations and inequalities (in two or three variables), operation on polynomials, factoring polynomials, operations on rational expressions, operations on complex numbers, factoring and solving quadratic equations, graphing quadratic equations (of the form y=a(x-b)² + c) determining maxima, minima and zeros of the function, proving the laws and solving problems involving exponential and logarithmic functions and their inverses, translating between logarithms of different bases, simplifying and approximating the values of logarithmic numeric expressions, graphing conic section, determining the equation of circles, ellipses, parabola, and hyperbola, computing permutations and combinations, computing probabilities, expanding binomial expressions, applying mathematical inductions to prove general statements on natural numbers, finding the general term and sum of arithmetic series, finite and infinite geometric series, deriving summation formulas for arithmetic series, solving problems involving inverse functions, operation on functions. Depending on their needs, at the end of my tutoring my student will be able to perform the following tasks in geometry:
1.Identify the basics of geometry concepts like points, planes, segments, distances, rays, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons; classify triangles and quadrilaterals, in connection with the reality solve problems involving these concepts.
2.Indicate the positional relations of lines and angles, like parallel and perpendicular lines, transversals, types of angles formed by transversals, slope of lines, slope of parallel and perpendicular lines, equations of lines, positional relation of circle and lines
3.Measure line segments angles and perform basic constructions such as bisecting line segments and angles, drawing parallel and perpendicular lines.
4.Identify parts of circles and polygons, find circumference/ perimeter of circles,/triangles and polygons, area of circle, triangle, parallelograms and regular polygons.
5.Identify and classify quadrilaterals, indicate their properties; locate figures in the coordinate system.
6.Apply postulates and make use of deductive and indirect reasoning to proof Pythagorean Theorem, congruency and similarity of triangular figures;
7.Get introduced to right triangle trigonometry: sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent.
8.Find the surface area and volume of space figures; make use of the concept to solve practical problem.
I have the knowledge, the skills, and the experience to assist the students to enable them:
•Revise the concepts, place values, orders, of Whole Numbers, the four basic operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) with these numbers.
• Understand the notion of positive and negative integers, order, add, subtract, multiply and divide integers.
•Determine rational numbers, order, and apply the four basic operations on rational numbers, change from fractions to decimals and vise-versa.
•Understand the notions of variables, equations, and inequalities, simplify expressions, change equations and inequalities in to equivalent equations and inequalities respectively, solve equations and inequalities that involve one or/and two steps.
•Determine ratios, rates, percents, and proportions of given quantities
•Read and determine tables, pictographs, pi-charts, and line graphs of simple data
•Find the coordinates and sketch the graph of linear equations on Cartesian coordinate plane.
•Identify the exponents of powers, add and subtract like terms, apply the rules of multiplying and dividing powers
•Understand the British and Metric systems of measurement units of length, volume, mass/weight, temperature, convert from one system of unit to the other, form smaller units to the higher and vise-versa.
•Understand and identify points, lines, rays, angles, planes, and other plane figures and their positional relationships
