Asha's Answer:

Hi!

First you need to put these in y=mx+b form.

  • 2x - 5y = -16
  • Subtract both sides by (2x), giving you -5y= -16-2x
  • Divide by both sides by (-5) to get y by itself, giving you y= (16/5) + (2/5)x
  • 4x - 10y= -16
  • Follow the same steps: first subtract by (4x), giving you -10y= -16 - 4x
  • Divide both sides by (-10) giving you, y= (16/10) + (4/10)x   which can be simplified to y= (8/5) + (2/5)x

If solving for x and y then set both equations equal to each other since they are both equal to -16:

  • 2x-5y = 4x -10y
  • Combine like terms: add 10y to both sides giving you, 2x -5y = 4x
  • subtract 2y from both sides giving you -5y = 2x
  • Divide by -5, so now y= -(2/5)x
  • Now substitute one of the old equations in to receive what y is equal to

help me solve for X 3X - 7 = 3( x= 1) my answer is No Solution am I right or wrong and why

Solving 3X- 7 = 3 (x = 1) / my answer is no solution am I right or wrong and why

solve the following for X -5(X-1) = 4(2X - 3) = -2(X = 2) -8

what is the y intercept of 2x + 7y = 14

I had 33 problems to do tonight and I am having problems with five of them these are the last three that i can't seem to get can you help me, by showing me how you come up with your solution and not just the answer

Asha's Answer:

For your first question: 3X- 7 = 3 (x = 1) I'm not sure if it's a typo and the equal sign should be a minus sign.

For the second question, is that three separate questions?

For your third question: solve for y first (isolate it out)

  • so subtract 2x from both sides giving you: 7y = -2x+14
  • Then divide by 7, giving you: y= -2/7x + 2
  • So your y-intercept is 2

Asha's Answer:

You can accomplish this in a couple ways.

  • Without calculator: make a set of data points by inputting values (-2, -1, 0, 1, 2) for x to figure out the corresponding value for y. After you plot the points. For an example: y=5x so the data set would be: (-2, -10) (-1, 5) (0,0), (1, 5), (2, 10). You take these values and plot the numbers on a graph.
  • With calculator: enter the equations in the y=. The first equation in y1, second in y2, and third in y3. Hit the graph key to see all three. If you want to see the data points hit the 2nd key, then hit the graph button.

hope this helps!

Asha's Answer:

Hi so I think if this is you question: 3x/(4-2x)/3 = (1/2), then solving for x:

1.)Multiply both sides by 3, giving you

  • 3x/(4-2x)= 2/3
  • Break down: multiplying the left side of the equation removes the 3. (1/2)*3 = 2/3

2.) Now you have 3x/(4-2x)= 2/3 so you can cross multiply to keep things simple, giving you

  • 6x= 12-6x
  • Break down: 2 * 3x = 6x also, (3 * 4) + (3*-2x) = 12-6x

3.) Now you have 6x= 12-6x so you combine like terms giving you

  • 12x = 12x
  • Breakdown: take 6x from right and move to left by subtracting it

4.) Finally you have 12x = 12x, so you divide both sides by 12

  • x = 1
  • Breakdown: 12/12 equals 1

Hope this helps!
