Teaching math is to teach a student to think for himself/herself in a logical fashion. I have taught students various branches of mathematics like Geometry, Algebra and Calculus while I was studying the subject myself. I enjoyed the teaching experience and increased my knowledge base at the same time.
In college I won the prize for the best performance in mathematics and physics. I also won the gold medal for the best overall performance.
I taught mathematics in college for 2 years as a teaching assistant. On arrival in the U.S. I secured a job at a Military Academy in Woodstock, Va., and successfully taught Calculus, Precalculus, Algebra 2 and Geometry at high school level. As my reputation as a good math teacher was recognized, many students in the public high schools in Woodstock engaged me to teach them the subject. I also regularly taught summer school at the Milatry Academy in Woodstock and helped many students in their high school state tests.
The greatest asset as a math teacher is the passion I have for the subject. My goal is to infuse this passion in the students I teach. I have found that this method of teaching engages the student in the subject and helps build rapport between the teacher and the student.
