I am currently a Pre-Professional Medical student at Frostburg State University, majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I maintain a 4.0 GPA with a junior status. The sciences are my area of expertise, but I feel it is very important to be well-rounded. I spend most of my free time studying English, Literature and Journalism. I am also a member of the History Club.
I believe the way to best teach students is through a positive learning environment. I am enthusiastic about learning all subjects and encourage my students to be as well.
I teach my students not only the material to be covered, but also techniques for learning the material. This allows the students to become independent thinkers who will not fall back into poor learning habits and the associated poor grades, even after tutoring is terminated. Showing students the joy in learning motivates them to be self-motivated thinkers and sets them up for success in any area of life.
I am a former nursing student and currently work in a nursing home. I am also a substitute teacher, I work for a landscaping company and I work part-time at a veterinary office. I am kind, caring, professional, patient and knowledgeable. I have tutored previously for Allegany College of Maryland. Freelance, I have tutored students of all ages, from Elementary School to non-traditional college students. I am up for any challenge. If you have a child with an "attitude" I'm your girl.
I am extremely interested in teaching beginning horseback riding lessons. I have no certification in this area, but have been riding for nearly 10 years and have several local titles. I also led the 2008 Maryland 4H team to two national victories in equine competitions. You must have your own horse.
I'll teach you anything I know; and learn anything you want to know that I don't already know. One thing you'll never hear me say is "you can't".
