As a teacher, I give my students a comprehensive view and understanding of the subject material, actively work on their critical thinking skills, and give them the confidence and study skills to become excellent scholars. I have worked with many middle school, high school, university and graduate level students, and I have helped them with Biology, Chemistry, Reading and Writing, Mathematics, the SAT, the MCAT, and Music. Also, through my love of teaching and versatility, I deeply care about the progress of my students and I can work with almost any learning style, talents and abilities.

I always strive for excellence and active learning in my teaching, and if the student or parent is not satisfied, I will not bill for the lesson. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but I will happily schedule makeup lessons.

I attended the rigorous Montgomery Blair High School Magnet Program, which focused on Math, Science and Computer Science. I then attended the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) with a full merit-scholarship in both academics and music, and I majored in Pre-medicine and Piano Performance. Immediately afterwards, I went on to get a Master's in Music at UMCP so I that could become a more independent and professional musician. At the same time, I worked at the Food and Drug Administration doing research on a human endogenous retrovirus. I was a co-author in an article published in the Journal of Virology in 2013. I am currently applying to medical school, and in the meantime, I teach piano privately, tutor, and work as a part-time medical assistant at an Urgent Care.

Algebra 2

I've always had a great interest in math and I often find personal enjoyment and satisfaction in doing it. I was on my middle school's math team, and I attended the Montgomery Blair High School Magnet Program for Math, Science and Computer Science. In teaching math, I teach the fundamental concepts and show my students how to manipulate these concepts so that they are prepared for almost any kind of problem that comes their way.

English

I'm great with helping people get started and finishing a well-written paper. I can organize ideas, proofread, and give tips on crafting an introduction and conclusion. I have helped students at the high school, undergraduate and graduate level with papers in various topics, ranging from literature to ethnomusicology to the SAT-Writing section.

Piano

I have a bachelor's of music and master's of music in piano performance from the University of Maryland, College Park. I've been teaching since 2011 and though my focus is classical, I have instructed jazz and popular music. My students have performance opportunities and have played in recitals. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Prealgebra

In teaching prealgebra, I teach the fundamental concepts and show my students how to manipulate these concepts so that they are prepared for almost any kind of problem that comes their way. In teaching Pre-algebra, I make sure that my students get a solid grounding in basic math, and I challenge them with tricky word problems to improve their critical thinking skills.

SAT Math

I show my students that there is a "smart" way to approach the SAT-Math section, in which test-taking time can be reduced. I did very well on this section myself in high school, and I have previously taught this subject to others very successfully.
