A special welcome to all the students and parents who are visiting my profile! Before I get into all the crazy academia, I would just like to briefly introduce myself. I was born and raised in Jamaica, came to the states on a scholarship for undergrad where I studied biology and graduated in May of 2012 with my BS. I am 25 year old and I aspire to become a Physician Assistant. I have a 6 month old baby boy who I absolutely love to stay at home with but my career life is calling me to come back. As a graduated international student, I was granted OPT which authorizes me to legally work in the U.S. for a year.
So here we go with all the crazy academic stuff. Biology is my favorite course (even the wrath of Organic Chemistry I and II wasn't enough to let me drop this major) I was a supplemental Instruction Leader for 2 years in undergrad. I have tutored anatomy and physiology I and II, genetics and plants and animal systems. I've taken all these courses including microbiology, stem cell biology, immunology and have gotten all As. No, I'm not a book worm, passion is a catalyst in learning! I graduated with 3 honors and received numerous dean's awards and other academic awards. I also did 3 summer research internships and presented findings at various fairs and conferences. I could go on but I want to spare you the boredom!
I hate to end on a note that makes me look like a book hugger so here is some fun stuff about me: I love my Jamaican music and dances (yup I do dance but not the suicidal moves you see on YouTube). I enjoy cooking and socializing. I especially love spending time with my son!
Thank you for visiting my profile! Off the records, if you need someone to talk to, I am also a trained peer counselor free of charge ;)
