Hi,

My name is Mark. I am a teacher of Mathematics at Marymount University and a recently retired Earth Scientist from the NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center. I have SB and PhD degrees in Mathematics from MIT and Cornell. I would like to share my knowledge and understanding of Mathematics, Physics, Earth Science, and Computers with the next generation of students and professionals.

I am here to teach you to use your natural intuition and creativity to understand and solve problems in these subjects and in life in general. I am here to show you how to break problems down into small, manageable steps and to build up your self-confidence in applying the natural mathematical talent that you and everyone else is born with.

I have studied Algebra as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and I have actively used it in my work at NASA in the mathematical modeling of the Earth's Land/Ocean/Atmosphere System.

I have actively used Geometry in my work at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in the mathematical modeling of the Earth's Land/Ocean/Atmosphere System.

Physics

I have more than 30 years experience at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in studying and modeling the physics of the Earth's Atmosphere/Land/Ocean System.

Prealgebra

I taught Pre-Calculus, which included some Pre-Algebra, at the Undergraduate level at the State University of New York at Purchase.

Precalculus

I taught Pre-Calculus at the Undergraduate level at the State University of New York at Purchase.

Music Theory

I have been a student of music theory and composition and have composed several shorter musical works.

Trigonometry

I have actively used Trigonometry in my work at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in the mathematical modeling of the Earth's Land/Ocean/Atmosphere System.

Writing

I have vast experience in writing scientific papers for NASA and additional experience both in scientific editing and in the writing of science fiction short stories.

Astronomy

I have studied Astronomy as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and I am currently involved, through the American Geophysical Union, in a project to study the properties and characteristics of the Earth-like exoplanet, Gliese 581-d.

SAT Math

I scored a 790 on my SAT Math test.

Proofreading

I have been a peer reviewer for scientific journals as well as an editor for scientific and popular manuscripts published by my office at NASA.

Physical Science

I have more than 30 years experience at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in studying and modeling the physics of the Earth's Atmosphere/Land/Ocean System.

ASVAB

I am an experienced ASVAB tutor who has recently helped my student to successfully join the Navy by helping him to increase his ASVAB score from a 38th percentile ranking to a 52th percentile ranking.

Ecology

I have vast experience at NASA in climate simulation modeling, climate variability studies, and climate change. I have also done development work at NASA in the global modeling of atmospheric pollution and chemistry.

Probability

I have studied probability as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and have applied and developed skewed and unskewed bi-Gaussian probability distributions at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center to describe the moist processes that occur in the turbulent atmospheric boundary layer.

I have a PhD in Applied Mathematics and over 30 years of professional experience in applying it.

I have over 30 years' experience as a NASA Scientist.

I have BS and PhD degrees in mathetmatics.

I have over 30 years experience as a NASA scientist.

Discrete Math

I have studied several of the elements of Discrete Mathematics both as an undergraduate at MIT and as a PhD student at Cornell University, and I have actively used them in my work at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in the mathematical modeling of the Earth's Land/Ocean/Atmosphere System.

Differential Equations

I studied and taught Partial Differential Equations as part of my graduate work at Cornell University. My PhD thesis was on the derivation and solution of partial differential equations using the multi-scale methodology.

Linear Algebra

I have studied Linear Algebra as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and I have actively used it in my work at NASA in the mathematical modeling of the Earth's Land/Ocean/Atmosphere System.

Logic
