With over 3 years of education and teaching experience, I bring an enthusiastic and innovative approach to teaching English as a Second Language. I have experience with Elementary School K-6, Middle School, High School, and Adult Learners.
I incorporate a variety of teaching and tutoring methods including the Laubach Method, engaging students, and activating an interest in English! My specialties include:
Business English: Learn how to give a presentation, write a cover letter, write a resume, negotiations, meetings.
Grammar: Learn correct phrases and improve your spoken English
Slang: Learn to speak with your children!
Pronunciation: We can improve how you sound together
Citizenship Preparation: Pass your Citizenship exam the first time!
In Albuquerque, NM, I spent a year teaching art to elementary, middle, high school and adult learners via an AmeriCorps program that partnered with the Albuquerque City Government. My art lessons combined a variety of historical and cultural influences that helped my students gain a wider perspective on art. I also taught after school Community Service activities to middle and high school students through another AmeriCorps initiative in the city of Annapolis, MD. Currently, I am tutoring through the Literacy Council of Montgomery County on a volunteer basis.
I take time to get to know each student individually and work with them to create specific, achievable goals that are tailored to suit the student's needs. In terms of younger students (elementary to high school), the activities are engaging and designed for many different types of learners. I also am a flexible tutor who is willing to work with students to develop an appropriate time schedule per week for language learning.
