My name is Matt, a licensed educator with over 18 years of experience teaching both Spanish and English. As an undergraduate, I attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, where I majored in Spanish and Sociology, with a concentration in Latin American Studies. My graduate degree in Spanish is from Middlebury College, an immersion program in which you pledge to only listen, read, write and speak in the language that you are studying for the duration of each of the four summers you attend; this program is renowned among the most rigorous programs of language study in the nation. During the last decade, I have also had the pleasure of leading students on trips and exchanges in Spain, Ecuador, Argentina, and Chile. When I'm not teaching, you can find me exploring the neighborhood with my 2 year-old Havanese, cheering on the Red Sox from Spring Training to the World Series, or taking road trips with friends all up and down the East Coast.
My teaching style is clear and energetic and I am confident in my ability to push students to achieve great things, while offering a lot of support along the way. Furthermore, my students describe me as easy to relate to, since outside of class we talk about everything from sports to music. Nevertheless, I always make it clear that while I am easy to talk to, my objective is to help my students succeed academically, to help them to be the best they can be.
