I enjoy educating and assisting adolescent students develop character, integrity, and essential foundations for future success. I graduated high school with a 3.6 unweighted GPA without studying ever. I had so much more potential but no one to believe in me enough to push me that extra mile. What I'm offering is the push your child needs if he/she is struggling or is already intelligent but needs that little bit of empowerment to get them over the hump. I joined the military because I was so bored with school and needed a challenge. While in Afghanistan I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I came back from the military and worked at a high school with ESE children and kids who were in the middle of the pack in the AVID program. While going to school full time to complete my Master's in Applied Learning & Instruction (The psychology education field), I also was a Scout Master in Boy Scouts of America and volunteered with juvenile delinquents teaching them skills. I have studied intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and have put them into practice. For the last 13 years I have worked with children and adults in Education. From organizations such as Future Educators of America, Soldiers to Scholars, Boy Scouts of America, United States Army (Operation School House) Orange County Public schools and Orange County Corrections. The last three years I have volunteered tutoring high school senior athletes who need a certain test score to get into college and have had a 100% successful rate with the students I worked with.
In order for me to be effective I need to see the material before I get to your home. I study the material and make sure I am the most effective at your home or whatever location we choose. Time is of the essence and I like to maximize my time in the home. Also, I am very good with math and social studies from k-8th. Anything else I can do as well but like I said I would need to know what the client is working on beforehand. Looking forward to working with you.
