I am a caring and qualified home school mother of four and private tutor with over thirteen years of one-on-one teaching experience looking for the opportunity to share my experience with other students and their parents or guardians. Grammar

I have excellent training in teaching grammar in the traditional format. I can teach well the eight parts of speech and syntax of each, as well as use appropriately the tool of diagramming sentences. I believe the traditional (old school) method is the best way to learn English grammar, retain it for use, and apply it in proper speaking and writing.

Elementary (K-6th)

Through fourteen years of homeschooling my own children and private tutoring as well, I have gained quite a lot of experience, especially for the early learning years. I have successfully helped many students learn or improve reading, spelling, writing, and math skills. Additionally, while working for the Caroline County Board of Education as a home teacher, I assisted children of various ages complete their assignments in all subject areas.

Phonics

I am a firm believer that learning phonics is fundamental to learning to read. The 70 or so phonograms are the building blocks of the written language and to ignore this fact is like ignoring the fact that one needs air to breathe! It is just that important. In my homeshooling efforts for the past 14 years, I have made phonics the primary focus in teaching my own children to read, and we have had great success, even with my eldest who has a learning disability.
