My name is Ola, I am a nutrition and public health professional with a strong passion for teaching. I love working with young populations as demonstrated by my career path in child health and nutrition. I have also worked with adult clients in private homes and communities through a mix of research and intervention projects. I currently reside in Central Maryland. I have great multicultural experiences gained from living in three different continents of the world. My passion for teaching is borne out of a desire to help others master concepts as they prepare for future careers. This passion is easily and quickly noticeable by clients I have served for many years. In particular my multicultural background allows me the opportunity to draw up real life examples to communicate with students from various backgrounds, different comprehension levels, and of different age grades (including elderly clients).
Currently, I provide tutoring and mentoring to elementary, middle, and high school students who attend after-school programs in a youth center located in Inner Baltimore city. Some of the subjects I teach at the youth center include: Math, Reading, Spelling, Writing, Geography, and culture of other lands. I have also been a Children Sunday school teacher in church for more than six years. This demonstrates my rich experience in many subjects (including Bible studies). I also enjoy proofreading; and for several years I have helped friends and colleagues edit both for the grammar and technical contents of essays, projects, proposals, and other documents.
I work hard to identify best ways of teaching and supervision for each client, thus making learning client-specific. I also share exam-specific preparation strategies with students. I have excellent inter-personal and communication skills. I am very patient and am a good listener. Please feel free to ask me questions about my teaching styles, background qualifications and experiences, or to take a look at my resume. Thank you.
