I have degrees in Physics and Astronomy. I have worked as an astronomer at NASA and with Earth observation systems at NASA and in private industry, all of which required the use of mathematics including geometry, algebra and calculus. I work well with young people. I have taught several math courses, specifically trigonometry, statistics and Foundations of Mathematics, as well as Physics and Astronomy and have done one-on-one tutoring in in all three fields.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Discrete Math

The topic in todays organization of mathematics covers the same topics included in various courses given to earlier generations of students. In particular, the chapters of a standard text "Discrete Mathematics with Applications" by Susanna S. Epp: Logic, Elementary Number Theory, Sequences, Set Theory,Counting & Probability, Functions, Recursions, Efficiency of Algorithms, Relations,Graphs & Trees and Regular Expressions & Finite-State Automata were taught to me in courses labeled Logic, Probability & Statistics (which I also taught), Calculus and Differential Equations (both ordinary and partial). I could teach such a course.

"After failing last quarter, my son got a C on a test, but an A on a recent quiz. He still has a lot of catching up to do, but is now more confident, and motivated to try harder. He was so discouraged. Thanks for your patience." - Carol C. "Thank you so much for these extra tips and your patience. We only wish we had found you earlier in the year.
