I specialize in tutoring math subjects like:
Algebra I & II
Geometry
Calculus (AP and otherwise)
Trigonometry
Statistics (AP and otherwise)

I also tutor the most popular college entrance exam, the SAT, and all sections of it.

I'm currently a junior seeking a Dual-Degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics at the University of Maryland. Growing up, I was always gifted with talents in mathematics and thoroughly enjoyed the hard sciences like chemistry, physics, and biology. While I did not always think school was fun, I always excelled in classes in which I had great educators. Even though I have an affinity for the hard sciences, the best grades I ever got in high school were in AP Eng. Language and Composition and in Practical Law because of great teachers that I felt truly felt comfortable learning with. With my students I do a great job of striking the balance of being a tutor and a friend. As such, my students feel more comfortable learning and are motivated to do well.

I have tutored high school and college students while working alongside professional learning assistance experts. At the University of Maryland I spent a summer working with the Math Learning Program in the Learning Assistance Service. There I learned fundamentals that can be applied across the board. Fundamentals like how to take effective notes and deal with test anxiety. With those skills in hand in addition to my math background, I helped students that had gaps in their education and were looking to catch up by taking summer classes.

With respect to the SAT I have learned that most students have the knowledge required to get an exceptional score on these tests. Doing well on the SAT is really about learning the tricks behind the different types of questions that they ask. Once students learn the tricks of the SAT, their focus and more importantly their confidence skyrocket, and that's what I am here for.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns or if you would like a resume or references. My schedule is fairly flexible and weekends are great. I can't wait to hear from you and help you achieve your goals!

Algebra 1

I have tutored Algebra I for 4 years now. I have learned through my experience that with respect to Algebra I, students tend to get intimidated because it's the first math class that they have taken that isn't based on mostly arithmetic. My experience with the Learning Assistance Service at the University of Maryland has given me the tools to help students master Algebra I as well as get them ready to take classes like Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry. I help students by giving them an array of different kinds of exercises and ways to look at Algebra I that helps them see that it is much easier than they thought.

Algebra 2

I have had professional training with mathematics while working with the Learning Assistance Service at the University of Maryland, learning how to help different kinds of students by catering to a number of needs. I've helped students with a range of topics like quadratic functions, logarithmic functions, exponential functions, synthetic division, and polynomials. Every student has their own way of learning and I am always more than happy to cater to different learning styles and have done so having worked with both high school students learning Algebra II for the first time and college students who needed help filling in gaps.

Calculus

I have tutored Calculus for 4 years. I have professional training with the Learning Assistance Service at the University of Maryland. I build great rapport with my students which provides for a more comfortable sessions and consequently more effective learning.

Prealgebra

I have tutored Prealgebra I for about 4 years now. I have learned through my experience that with respect to Prealgebra, students tend to get intimidated because it's the first math class that they have taken that isn't based on mostly arithmetic. Whether students need help with arithmetic, geometry, exponents, radicals, etc. I help my students master the tools they need to succeed. My experience with the Learning Assistance Service at the University of Maryland has given me the tools to help students master Algebra I as well as get them ready to take classes like Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. I help students by giving them an array of different kinds of exercises and ways to look at Prealgebra that helps them see that it is much easier than they thought.

Precalculus

I have tutored Precalculus for 4 years. I have professional training with the Learning Assistance Service at the University of Maryland. Working with conic sections, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, polar coordinates, trigonometry, etc., I can help students learn how to take effective notes, ask the right questions, and master the material! I have worked with high school and college students who were learning the material as I tutored them or needed help filling in gaps in their math background. I have experience tutoring high school students increase their scores and typically with 20 hours of tutoring I can guarantee a score increase of 150-200 points. I help students fill in any gaps they might have with algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, and probability so we can then focus on the mastering specific nuances of the SAT Math sections.

SAT Reading

I have tutored the reading section of the SAT for over 3 years now. I have helped students for who English is not their first language, learn the nuances of the reading section of the SAT.
