I am a stay-at-home mom with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education from the University of Maryland. I really love tutoring more than any job that I've ever had. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. I took and passed Calculus I, II, and III and Advanced Calculus I and II as part of my B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland.

From the University of Maryland, I received a B in "Intro to programming for the physical sciences" in Fall 2004 and I received a B in "Computation Methods" in Fall 2007. I received a A in Differential Equations at the University of Maryland in the Fall of 2007. I currently review and practice from a textbook and previous exams regularly.

I've had great success tutoring a few 6th graders. I would love to have the experience of tutoring a 4th or 5th grader also.

I received a B in Linear Algebra (Math240) at the University of Maryland in Fall 2004. Additionally, I received an A in Applications of Linear Algebra (Math401) at the University of Maryland in Summer 2005. I also regularly review and practice problems from a text book and previous exams.

I taught 7th grade Pre-Algebra full-time for a few months as part of my Student-teaching semester at UMD.

I've tutored a high school senior taking Pre-calculus for a few weeks. Her quiz scores went up and she felt happy again and then no longer needed me.

This math topic tends to be more challenging for tutors to teach as it requires more teaching for actual understanding than of just memorization of steps and repetition. I review probability from time to time to keep myself ready for the next student who needs help.

I took an upper-level Probability and Statistics class at the University of Maryland and I review it from time to time.

The first thing I think of when I think of Trigonometry is SOH-CAH-TOA! There are also the law of sines, the law of cosines, and some trig identities useful in algebraic manipulation. Some of those may require some songs and rhymes in order to remember them.
