I am a math PhD student at the University of MD with seven years of experience tutoring math and SAT math prep. I have worked together with parents and teachers to help my students grasp difficult math concepts, learn to think critically, and become self-confident. I tutor students from elementary school through most college math courses.
I began to do SAT math prep after talking to a student who felt he hadn't learned much at his expensive SAT prep course. He had done countless practice tests during his classes there, but he felt the basic concepts still didn't make sense to him. Working one-on-one with me, he was able to really understand the math and, as a result, improved his score significantly.
I tutor because it's rewarding to see my students have an 'aha!' moment as they figure out a tricky problem. It is wonderful to see them become self-confident as they feel more comfortable doing math. It has also been fun getting to know the students -- I have attended their musicals, tennis matches, acrobatics shows, and graduations.
I am happy to answer any questions, forward you a copy of my resume, or get you in touch with parents of my current students. Many families have worked with me for years so they are great references.
